Since 2000, Washington International Academy (WIA) has helped young Muslims from all backgrounds grow into confident, successful, and wise individuals. With small class sizes, a diverse student body, and a concept-based curriculum grounded in the Islamic tradition of ta’lim (instruction), ta’dib (moral cultivation), and tarbiyyah (intentional socialization), WIA offers our youngest learners a warm and purposeful start to their education.

The Role

We are looking for a nurturing, energetic, and fluent Arabic-speaking educator to lead our Pre-School Arabic Immersion homeroom for children ages 3 to 4. In this role, you will create a joyful, language-rich classroom where little ones learn Arabic (Fusha) naturally through play, songs, stories, and daily routines, while building a love of learning and a connection to Allah, the Qur’an, and Islamic manners (adab).

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the homeroom in Arabic (Fusha), creating an immersive environment where children hear and use the language throughout the day.
2. Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons aligned with WIA’s concept-based curriculum.
3. Establish consistent routines, clear expectations, and a calm, safe, and caring classroom for 3- and 4-year-olds.
4. Integrate daily adhkar, du’a, short surahs, and Islamic values into classroom life in ways young children can understand and enjoy.
5. Observe, document, and assess each child’s language, social-emotional, and early academic growth.
6. Communicate regularly and warmly with families about their child’s progress and well-being.
7. Collaborate with assistant teachers, colleagues, and administration to support a cohesive Pre-School program.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
2. Fluency in Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha).
3. Experience teaching children ages 3 to 4.
4. Strong classroom management skills and student-centered teaching practices.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with young children and build positive, productive learning relationships with them.
6. A sincere commitment to Islamic education and values.
7. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
