Description and Requirements


Good Tree Academy, an accredited private school in north Texas is recognized as a pioneer in Islamic education. With ten years of growth, Good Tree Academy now offers Pre-K  through 12 education and over 28 enrichment programs for 260 students at its Plano, Texas campus. Good Tree Academy students consistently rank in the top echelons of standardized testing and attend Collin County’s first Muslim high school.

Our Mission:

 To prepare all our students as model Muslims who excel academically, socially, and spiritually to succeed in higher education and/ or their future endeavors. We will achieve this by providing a healthy learning environment, adherence to Islamic practices based on Quran and the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and collaboration between the school, students, parents, and community.

Good Tree Academy (GTA) is seeking a Principal to provide servant leadership and management to maximize the efforts of teachers and students in an environment which is conducive to educational enhancement, growth and achievement. The Principal is responsible for directing all daily operations of the school campus, supervising and coordinating the work of all personnel, ensuring subordinates’ adherence to policies, regulations and goals, preparing required reports and performing other professional, administrative and supervisory work as required.

Position Responsibilities:

 Leadership and Management

  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and conduct

  • Set the tone and culture of the school, leading staff to convey the highest of expectations for students and hold the school accountable for student achievement

  • Develop, implement, evaluate and manage effective and clear policies, procedures and processes for the operation of the school consistent with the mission, values and goals of the school

  • Prepares school budget and maintains expenditures within budget

  • Ensure compliance with GTA policies

Student Affairs

  • Participates in the student enrollment process from attracting new students to the final admission activities

  • Plan, organize and implement on-campus student events including Science fairs, Spelling Bee, Student Recognition, etc.

  • Ensures that student discipline and counseling issues are managed appropriately

  • Ensures that administrative resources are provided to high school students for college entry preparation

Enrollment, Curriculum, Scheduling and Standardized Testing

  • Participates, leads or facilitates curriculum development activities

  • Promotes the continuous religious development of students in Hifz and other foundational Islamic studies

  • Oversees the generation of the school’s teaching schedule and academic calendar

  • Coordinates the activities to ensure STAAR, MAP and PSAT tests are administered appropriately

Development, Supervision, and Evaluation

  • Maintains relations with staff and is responsible for positive staff morale

  • Monitors staff performance recognizes achievement and takes measures to remedy below expectation performance

  • Supervises and evaluates all staff in teaching, classroom management, lesson planning

  • Responsible for development of teaching staff and continual improvement of education delivery to students

  • Supervises staff in line with GTA policies and applicable employment laws and regulations

  • Responsible for hiring and terminating school staff

Communications and Community Relations

  • Communicates with all stakeholders effectively, including parents, students, staff, Board of Directors and the community at large

  • Participates in school fundraising efforts as well as PTO events

  • Develops relationships with other Islamic institutions, community leaders, scholars, and State Education agencies

Qualifications being sought:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or an education-related field

  • Possess administrative experience in a K-12 US educational institution

  • Demonstrates excellent leadership and organizational skills

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research relating to learning

  • Possess work authorization to work in the US through citizenship, Green Card or Work Permit
