Quranic Studies / Quran Teacher – Roles & Responsibilities

The Quranic Studies / Quran Teacher at Good Tree Academy is responsible for developing students’ connection with the Qur’an through proper recitation, Tajweed, memorization, Qur’anic vocabulary, and Tadabbur al-Qur’an (reflection and understanding).

Instruction & Student Development

1. Plan and teach Quran lessons aligned with the school’s approved curriculum and learning objectives.
2. Teach Quran recitation, Tajweed, memorization (Hifz), proper pronunciation (Makharij), Qur’anic vocabulary, and Tadabbur al-Qur’an.
3. Build students’ understanding of commonly used Qur’anic Arabic words and their meanings.
4. Guide students in reflecting on the meanings, lessons, and values of selected verses and applying them to daily life.
5. Help students improve fluency, accuracy, and confidence in Quran recitation.
6. Monitor memorization and revision progress based on individual student levels.
7. Differentiate instruction for students with varying Quran abilities and learning needs.
8. Regularly assess, grade, and track student progress.
9. Promote proper Adab with the Qur’an and encourage a meaningful, lifelong connection with the Qur’an.

Classroom & Communication

1. Maintain a safe, respectful, structured, and positive Islamic learning environment.
2. Maintain attendance, grades, assignments, and assessments in Sycamore SIS.
3. Communicate student progress or concerns with families in a timely manner.
4. Participate in parent-teacher conferences as required.

Collaboration & School Responsibilities

1. Work closely with the Department Head and follow the approved Quran curriculum and instructional expectations.
2. Attend department meetings, faculty meetings, school events, and required professional development.
3. Participate in dismissal, supervision, prayer, and other assigned school duties.
4. Follow Good Tree Academy policies regarding student safety, confidentiality, professional conduct, and communication.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree required.
2. Strong Quran recitation and Tajweed proficiency.
3. Strong knowledge of Tajweed, Makharij, Quran memorization, Qur’anic vocabulary, and age-appropriate Tadabbur.
4. Quran teaching experience preferred.
5. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
6. Ability to teach students at varying Quran proficiency levels.
7. Commitment to Islamic character, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.
