How does your school incorporate Islamic values into the daily lives of students?
Alhumdulillah we start each day with a morning dua in an assembly. Everyone is encouraged to greet others with “Assalaam Walakum” instead of Hello. Everything starts with Bismillah. Behaviors are discussed according to Islamic Teachings.
Can you share a recent achievement or milestone your school is proud of?
Renovating the building (old masjid turned school) to make 4 new classrooms, Renovations to the existing playground, adding a playground structure for children aged 2-5.
What programs or initiatives does your school have to support student well-being and character development?
Imam Shamudeen (Islamic Center of Daytona Beach Imam) has started weekly talks with the students on character building, having good Islamic manners, etc.
What role do parents and families play in your school community?
Our PTO has started holding monthly family activities at the (Islamic Center of Daytona Beach) to bring youth and their families to the masjid. Activities include S’mores and Stories, Scoop with the Imam, Family Fun Night, ETC.
Looking ahead, what are your school’s goals or aspirations for the future?
Accreditation within the next 2 years. Grow to include a middle school.
