Eman Schools: Enhancing Islamic Values with Academic Excellence!

Spotlight on Eman Schools: A Blue Ribbon Honor

Nestled in Fishers, Indiana, Eman Schools has been enhancing Islamic values with academic excellence since 2005. Today, with nearly 600 students from Pre-K through 12th grade, the school is celebrating a remarkable milestone — being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

This recognition places Eman Schools among the nation’s top-performing schools, honoring both their commitment to academic excellence and their success in closing achievement gaps. We spoke with school leaders, students, and parents to learn more about what this award means for their community, how Islamic values are woven into daily life, and what lies ahead for the future of Eman Schools.

  • What is a Blue Ribbon School?

It is a national recognition awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to schools that demonstrate academic excellence and success in closing achievement gaps.

  • How did Eman Schools earn this recognition?

Eman Schools was nominated by CAPE (Council for American Private  Education) and selected by the U.S. Department of Education after meeting both criteria: overall academic excellence and significant progress in closing student achievement gaps. We are especially proud that we met both criteria.

  • What does this mean for our community?

This designation validates the hard work of our students, teachers, and families. It is especially meaningful to be among the final group of schools in the nation to receive this recognition. As an Islamic school we are happy to add this badge of honor to the community of Islamic schools.

  • How do we incorporate Islamic values?

Our daily schedule includes Qur’an and Islamic Studies, prayer breaks, and an emphasis on character education rooted in Islamic manners (akhlaq).

  • Programs supporting student well-being and character:

We offer mentorship, counseling, leadership clubs, and service-learning projects that allow students to practice compassion, responsibility, and community service.

  • Role of families:

Families play an active role in school life primarily through our PTA, which works hand-in-hand with school leadership to support academic programs, student activities, and community events.

  • Looking ahead:

We aspire to expand enrollment to 1,200 students in the coming years while continuing to strengthen our academic excellence, Islamic values, and innovative programs that prepare students to be leaders of character and service in their communities.
