Dr. Shaza Khan’s visit to Renaissance Academy

ISLA’s Executive Director, Dr. Shaza Khan, visited Renaissance Academy in Austin, Texas, on May 6 and was welcomed into a vibrant Teacher Appreciation Week celebration. From a mobile coffee truck parked outside to an administrative office transformed into a sunny beach retreat, and staff dressed in tropical attire, the school’s positive culture was evident from the moment she arrived.

A highlight of the visit was meeting Renaissance Academy’s new principal, Omar Warsi, and vice principal, Laila Khater. Br. Omar brings more than a decade of experience as both a classroom teacher and school principal, along with a deep understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges facing Islamic schools in the United States. He steps into this leadership role with vision, humility, and enthusiasm—qualities that will serve the Renaissance Academy community well as it continues to grow and thrive.

Strong leadership plays a critical role in shaping a school’s future. The right principal and administrative team can inspire educators, support students, and strengthen the entire school community.

Congratulations to Br. Omar, Sr. Laila, and the entire Renaissance Academy team. Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality. ISLA is honored to partner with Islamic schools across the country through seasons of transition, celebration, and growth.
