Teacher

Responsible for instructing students elementary, middle and high School (Grades K-12). Creates lesson plans, instructs students in Arabic, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies. Creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. Delivers required curriculum with an Islamic perspective while integrating the Islamic morals and values.

Primary responsibilities

1. Effectively uses technology to enhance instruction. As this job is conducted entirely online, a successful candidate must be 100% comfortable with a virtual learning environment, as well as with using relevant distance learning tools. Training will be provided, however, the candidate must be sufficiently comfortable with online communication tools and software.
2. Create instructional resources for use in the online classroom.
3. Provide a positive example to students by supporting Al-Huda School’s mission of educating the next generation of Muslims who seek guidance through the Quran and practice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
4. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
5. Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
6. Participate in ongoing training and Islamic learning and development sessions.
7. Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
8. Maintain grade books.
9. Grade assignments and perform other administrative duties as needed.
10. Create projects designed to enhance learning.
11. Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
12. Utilize various curriculum resources.
13. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
14. Employs a variety of methodologies in teaching and instructing students, including demonstrations, discussions, and class practice
15. Integrate Islamic teachings, morals, and values into lesson plans and instruction.
16. Work with team leaders, department heads, and administration to ensure curriculum goals and standards are met.
17. Tutor students on an individual basis, if needed.
18. Communicate with parents to keep them abreast of their children’s progress.
19. Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.

Candidate Qualification:

1. Must hold a college degree (evaluation of degrees from overseas must be submitted)
2. Degree in Arabic or Islamic Studies is preferred
3. For Qur’an teachers, sound knowledge and implementation of the rules of Tajweed is required
4. Teacher certification is a plus

Candidate Experience:

1. Must have experience teaching Arabic, Qur’an and Islamic Studies in a classroom setting
2. Teaching experience in full-time school settings is a plus
