We are looking to employ an English teacher with an outstanding track record of teaching English lessons to students in Middle School and High School. The English teacher will be responsible for teaching reading, writing, and speaking skills.

To prepare and provide grade-relevant learning activities that enable students to learn the principles of the English language including the rules of grammar and syntax, to develop an understanding and appreciation of literature, and to advance students’ verbal and written communication abilities.

Main Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plan and prepare lesson plans that meet core objectives and principles and are in line with the curriculum goals
  2. Prepare instructional aids and supplemental teaching materials and resources consistent with learning objectives and student needs
  3. Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and school supplies as needed
  4. Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques that are appropriate to the academic level and meet the diverse needs of students
  5. Maximize the appropriate use of technology in the classroom as an instructional tool
  6. Teach grammar and syntax, vocabulary and word usage, and other principles of the English language
  7. Promote students’ understanding of and appreciation of literature
  8. Develop students’ verbal skills including reading out loud, discussion, and debate
  9. Develop students’ writing skills
  10. Encourage the development of critical thinking skills
  11. Create a safe and flexible classroom environment conducive to optimal student learning
  12. Help students to work independently and collaboratively in groups
  13. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that conform to School policies and promote learning in the classroom
  14. Encourage student responsibility, cooperation, tolerance and mutual respect in a manner consistent with School policies and procedures
  15. Establish and monitor appropriate behavior of students in extra-curricular activities
  16. Track and monitor student learning using a variety of techniques
  17. Prepare and administer assessments that are curriculum-aligned
  18. Grade assessments
  19. Monitor performance and progress and modify instructional methods to meet individual needs where necessary
  20. Foster good working relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to support the development and well-being of the students
  21. Keep parents or guardians informed of students’ academic progress and social and behavioral issues
  22. Coordinate parent/teacher conferences to review students’ progress
  23. Maintain accurate and complete student records including attendance, grades, assessments and test scores as required by school procedures and regulations
  24. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  25. Undertake professional development activities to ensure continued professional growth and development of teaching skills

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in English teaching
  2. Solid grounding in classroom management and school procedures
  3. Solid knowledge of subject matter including subject-specific curriculum and assessments
  4. Proficient in the use of technology and computer applications as required
  5. Up-to-date with latest teaching techniques and topics in English instruction
