Position Overview

The Islamic Studies Teacher serves as a role model, educator, and mentor who nurtures students academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. The teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate Islamic Studies instruction while helping students develop a lifelong love for Allah (SWT), Islam, the Qur’an, and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

At Strive Islamic School, we believe that Islamic education extends beyond the classroom. Teachers are expected to model excellent Islamic character (adab), foster positive relationships, and create a learning environment where students feel inspired to strengthen their faith and practice Islam with understanding, sincerity, and confidence.

Primary Responsibilities

Islamic Studies Instruction

  1. Teach the adopted Islamic Studies curriculum with fidelity while adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.
  2. Integrate authentic Qur’an and Sunnah using trusted scholarly sources that align with the school’s educational philosophy.
  3. Teach students about:
  4. Aqeedah (Islamic belief)
  5. Worship (‘Ibadah)
  6. Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
  7. Islamic manners (Adab)
  8. Islamic history
  9. Daily duas and remembrance (adhkar)
  10. Good citizenship and character from an Islamic perspective.
  11. Create meaningful discussions that encourage critical thinking, reflection, and practical application of Islamic teachings.
  12. Reinforce Islamic values throughout the school day and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate Islamic character across subjects.

Spiritual Development

The teacher’s primary goal is to help students:

  1. Develop a sincere love for Allah (SWT).
  2. Develop a love and respect for the Qur’an.
  3. Develop a love for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by learning from his character and Sunnah.
  4. Build pride and confidence in their Muslim identity.
  5. Strengthen their relationship with Allah through worship, gratitude, sincerity, and excellent character.
  6. Understand that Islam is a complete way of life reflected in their words, actions, and interactions with others.

Student Assessment

  1. Assess student understanding through projects, discussions, observations, written work, and informal assessments.
  2. Monitor students’ academic and spiritual growth.
  3. Communicate concerns and progress with families and administration.
  4. Collaborate with teachers to support student success.

Classroom Environment

  1. Foster a respectful, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
  2. Utilize multiple teaching methods, including:
  3. Storytelling
  4. Art
  5. Movement
  6. Educational games
  7. Cooperative learning
  8. Hands-on projects
  9. Memorization activities
  10. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Professional Responsibilities

  1. Participate in teacher evaluations and implement required recommendations, modifications, or corrective actions.
  2. Communicate professionally with administration, colleagues, and families.
  3. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students, families, staff, and school operations.
  4. Attend meetings, professional development, and school events.
  5. Assist with lunch, recess, drop-off, pick-up, assemblies, and school activities.
  6. Support fundraising efforts and contribute to the growth of the school community.
  7. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with curriculum development, special projects, or leadership opportunities when needed.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or equivalent degree from an accredited international institution required.
  2. Current college students may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  3. Teaching experience preferred.
  4. Strong understanding of Islamic Studies.
  5. Ability to model excellent Islamic character and professionalism.
  6. Strong classroom management
  7. Adaptable, transparent, professional and a and team player
