The Prophetic Tarbiyah Counselor at Muraqaba School is a servant leader who embodies the school’s vision, values, and commitment to cultivating students’ hearts, minds, and spirits.
This role combines strategic leadership with a focus on supporting student behavior development, character education, and social-emotional learning while deeply aligning with the school’s Islamic worldview and HEART-centered Prophetic tarbiyah principles.
Position Overview
The Prophetic Tarbiyah Counselor supports and mentors students in their behavioral, emotional, and character development. This role works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure holistic growth and foster a culture of excellence and compassion rooted in Islamic values.
Key Responsibilities: Prophetic Tarbiyah Counselor
1. Student Behavior Development through Prophetic Guidance
- Develop and implement behavior development strategies rooted in prophetic character and Islamic values.
- Support students in understanding and practicing self-regulation, accountability, and restorative justice.
- Provide individualized behavioral guidance to students, encouraging self-awareness and empathy.
2. Character Education
- Design and lead school-wide initiatives to nurture virtues such as honesty, kindness, patience, and gratitude in students.
- Integrate Quranic teachings and prophetic stories into character education programs.
- Collaborate with teachers to embed character-building lessons into daily classroom activities.
3. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
- Develop and implement SEL programs that promote emotional intelligence, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Teach students effective communication, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation techniques.
- Foster a culture of inclusivity and emotional safety within the school community.
4. Family and Community Engagement
- Work closely with parents and guardians to support students’ behavior, character, and emotional development.
- Provide workshops, resources, and individualized guidance for families to reinforce Islamic values at home.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and the broader community to promote shared responsibility in character development.
5. Counseling and Crisis Support
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students facing emotional, social, or behavioral challenges.
- Develop crisis intervention plans and support students and families in times of difficulty.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to address and resolve complex student needs with care and compassion.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in student counseling, character education, or behavior management.
- Specialized Expertise: Knowledge of Islamic values, prophetic guidance, and SEL best practices.
- Leadership Skills: Experience in leading character development initiatives or mentoring students.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with counseling tools, SEL frameworks, and educational technology.
