The Secondary Technology Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, age-appropriate instruction in technology and digital literacy to students in grades 6 through 10. The teacher will help students develop essential skills in computer use, digital responsibility, productivity software, and emerging technologies while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

This position requires a commitment to maintaining a positive learning environment aligned with the school’s academic standards, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  1. Plan and deliver engaging technology lessons for students in grades 6–10.
  2. Teach foundational and intermediate technology skills such as:
  3. Digital literacy and online safety
  4. Keyboarding and computer fundamentals
  5. Google Workspace or Microsoft Office applications
  6. Basic coding and computational thinking
  7. Multimedia creation and digital presentations
  8. Research and responsible internet use
  9. Integrate technology into cross-curricular learning when appropriate.
  10. Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and abilities.

Classroom Management

  1. Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
  2. Establish clear expectations for responsible technology use.
  3. Monitor student use of devices and ensure adherence to school technology policies.

Assessment & Student Progress

  1. Evaluate student performance through projects, assignments, and assessments.
  2. Provide timely feedback to support student growth and improvement.
  3. Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.

Technology Management

  1. Assist in maintaining classroom technology equipment and digital resources.
  2. Report technical issues or equipment needs to administration.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
  2. Teaching experience with middle or high school students preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge of computer applications, digital tools, and educational technology.
  4. Ability to explain technical concepts in an engaging and student-friendly way.
  5. Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
