The Secondary Technology Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, age-appropriate instruction in technology and digital literacy to students in grades 6 through 10. The teacher will help students develop essential skills in computer use, digital responsibility, productivity software, and emerging technologies while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
This position requires a commitment to maintaining a positive learning environment aligned with the school’s academic standards, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging technology lessons for students in grades 6–10.
- Teach foundational and intermediate technology skills such as:
- Digital literacy and online safety
- Keyboarding and computer fundamentals
- Google Workspace or Microsoft Office applications
- Basic coding and computational thinking
- Multimedia creation and digital presentations
- Research and responsible internet use
- Integrate technology into cross-curricular learning when appropriate.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and abilities.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment.
- Establish clear expectations for responsible technology use.
- Monitor student use of devices and ensure adherence to school technology policies.
Assessment & Student Progress
- Evaluate student performance through projects, assignments, and assessments.
- Provide timely feedback to support student growth and improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
Technology Management
- Assist in maintaining classroom technology equipment and digital resources.
- Report technical issues or equipment needs to administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Teaching experience with middle or high school students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of computer applications, digital tools, and educational technology.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in an engaging and student-friendly way.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
