Special Education Teacher with LBS 1

Furqaan Academy is looking for highly energetic, enthusiastic candidates. 

Duties:

The special education teacher will implement the IEPs for students in a self-contained classroom structured for students with autism. The teacher will be a member of a team, including a speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker, and paraeducator.This is a private school position that contributes to 401K.

1. Provide services to students in a Self-Contained and Resource Classroom setting
2. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning
3. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
4. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students as needed
5. Implement reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner
6. Prepare for students assigned, provide adaptations as necessary, and show written evidence of preparation upon request
7. Strive to implement instruction and action of Islamic and Quran philosophy, values, and education and instructional goals and objectives
8. Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide necessary communication with parents on an as-needed basis.
9. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with special needs
10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
11. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation; assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
12. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending conferences, workshops, and/or coursework
13. Provide parents and external partners with up-to-date information when needed. 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
2. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (LBS 1 Required)
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
4. Evidence of planning, organization and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position
5. Ability to collaborate with partners regarding student learning
6. Understanding of student learning theory and differentiated instruction
7. Experience with students with autism is required. 
8. Knowledge of communication, behavior and sensory interventions is highly preferred.
