ISLA at ISNA 2021 – Celebrating Islamic Education: Moving Forward with Renewed Vision
ISNA’s 58th Annual Convention was held virtually on September 4th – September 5th. There were many speakers to gain insight and knowledge from, all discussing the overall theme: Reimagine and Rebuild with Renewed Resolve.
ISLA’s Dr. Shaza Khan presented as a part of a panel at the ISNA Convention, bringing ISLA’s ideas and research to the Islamic School community. The topic discussed was Celebrating Islamic Education: Moving Forward with Renewed Vision.

Dr. Khan reviewed the rich history and progress of Islamic Schools in America from 1936 until now. She also drew from ISLA’s research conducted on Islamic school principals, alumni, and their response to the COVID-19 crisis, to examine the current standing of our Islamic schools, their impact in dealing with COVID-19, and how they can better improve and move forward.
Other panelists included: Sufia Azmat, Qur’an Shakir, and Abdalla Idris.
