Elementary Homeroom Teacher

Position Overview

Al-Arqam Islamic School & College Preparatory is seeking a dedicated Elementary School Teacher to join our PreK–12 team. The teacher will deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction in core academic subjects while integrating Islamic manners and values throughout the curriculum. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering a positive learning environment where all students can achieve their full potential academically, socially, and spiritually.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

1. Implement Al-Arqam’s school curriculum in Math, English, Science, History, Physical Education, and Art.
2. Ensure alignment with California Common Core Standards and school learning objectives.
3. Integrate Islamic manners and values throughout instruction.
4. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including:
6. Cooperative learning groups
7. Direct instruction
8. Differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs
9. Hands-on manipulatives and visual aids
11. Support individual students with additional academic assistance as needed.
12. Monitor and assess student performance regularly and provide clear feedback to students and parents.
13. Use the school-adopted Accelerated Reader program to support independent reading and literacy development.

Classroom Management & Environment

1. Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment.
2. Establish classroom management systems that provide students with opportunities to reflect on behavior and learning.

Professional Responsibilities

1. Participate in professional development offered by school and local county offices of education a.
2. Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support student growth.
3. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and school events.
4. Perform other duties as assigned to support the school mission.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree and preferred Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
2. Experience teaching early elementary grades (K–5) preferred.
3. Knowledge of current research and best practices in elementary education and instructional strategies.
4. Commitment to Islamic values, student-centered learning, and professional growth.
