Description Overview
The Head of Elementary / Early Education serves as the academic and administrative leader for Success Academy’s early education programs (Pre-K to Grade 4). This role focuses on building strong academic foundations, nurturing Islamic character, and ensuring a safe, joyful, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
The Head works closely with the Success Academy Board and school leadership team to uphold the school’s mission and values, oversee curriculum and instruction, and engage families in their child’s educational journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the early education division, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and character development grounded in Islamic values.
- Oversee daily school operations, classroom environments, and faculty performance.
- Support curriculum design aligned with NJ State Standards and Islamic tarbiyah.
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and safe atmosphere for young learners.
- Lead teacher professional development and classroom coaching.
- Partner with families through communication, events, and parent education.
- Manage early education budgeting, resources, and compliance with licensing requirements.
- Support admissions, marketing, and long-term growth planning.
Mission and Vision Setting
- Uphold the school’s mission and Islamic values in all practices and policies.
- Set a clear vision for early childhood education that emphasizes academic readiness, emotional development, and faith-based learning.
- Develop strategic plans with measurable goals centered on student growth and family engagement.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion as core Islamic principles.
Governance and Leadership
- Serve as an ex officio, non-voting member of the Board and relevant committees.
- Provide visible leadership during daily school routines and events.
- Implement policies and procedures consistent with best practices, board directives, and Islamic ethics.
Safe and Nurturing Environment
- Establish behavior expectations rooted in Islamic justice and compassion.
- Lead restorative discipline practices and model positive behavior management.
- Ensure safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom spaces.
- Coordinate student support services for children with additional learning or behavioral needs.
Instructional and Staff Leadership
- Oversee curriculum planning, classroom instruction, and assessment.
- Support teachers in lesson design, observation, and feedback.
- Implement continuous professional growth programs for educators.
- Use assessment data to guide academic improvement and enrichment.
Resource and Program Management
- Oversee the early education budget and resource allocation.
- Integrate technology and age-appropriate tools for learning and communication.
- Collaborate with the Board on fundraising, grants, and community engagement.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field.
- Minimum four years of teaching experience in early education (Pre-K–2).
- Strong understanding of child development and early learning pedagogy.
- Experience in Islamic school settings.
- Knowledge of Islamic tarbiyah and values-based education.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education or related field.
- Leadership experience in an early childhood or elementary program.
- Knowledge of NJ State Standards and early education compliance.
