Averroes High School is seeking a highly professional and skilled teacher who is proficient in High School subjects (Math, English, Science, PE, etc).
Job Scope.
Job Summary
Core responsibilities of a subject teacher includes planning, developing, and compiling a comprehensive language based educational program for students and delivering quality instruction to students, resulting in their overall development.
Job Description:
- Teach as a lead teacher in the main class, teach classes and as a secondary teacher in complimentary classes (TA, mentor, duties, lunch, salah etc).
- Collaborate with others teachers and their subjects using PBL and other strategies to integrate the teaching across the curriculum
- Be a community member willing and able to commit to the development of each child, and engage in the greater parent community
- Provide interactive and meaningful learning material to students, maintaining a positive learning environment for active participation of students, assigning homework, and conducting class tests for analyzing their progress
- Further develop the existing curriculum that challenges the learning ability of students and ensures overall development of language and skill
- Provide learning material and language reference books to the students, utilizing available resources in school curriculum to monitor, access, and evaluate students’ learning abilities
- Optimize the use of grading LMS and SMS
- Establish and maintain a healthy relationship with students, parents, and other working staff members, managing the students’ behavior in the classroom and the school premises, and implementing appropriate behavior management strategies
- File and maintain all forms of physical and computerized documents, records, and reports of the students for general and academic records
- Actively participate in all important departmental and parent meetings as well as other school related activities. About 2-4 evenings/weekends per month
- Teach in a Project Based Learning environment that implements restorative practices and encourages student inquiry
- Be a mentor/advisor to a group of students
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in subject or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. MA or PhD preferred
- Teaching license or certificate, or at least 3+ years of teaching experience
- Strong interpersonal skills for effectively transferring knowledge possessed
- Teach classes in subject areas
- Carry out professional duties and to maintain responsibility for an assigned class and students.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day work and management of the class and the safety and welfare of the pupils, during on-site and off-site activities.
- Promote the aims and objectives of the school and maintain its philosophy of education.
- Improve on yourself personally and professionally while being a part of the Averroes team/community.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain an environment of learning, growth, and development for students.
- Plan for and teach classes as assigned in the subject area.
- Maintain records including grades, disciplinary, appropriate growth, and change in students areas based on teacher goals and student goals.
- Support students with IEPs and or special accommodations, as needed.
- Present proper and regular communication amongst students, staff, parents, and the community around curriculum, student progress, grades, and narratives.
- Be a subject matter expert.
