Author Shifa Saltagi Safadi is offering a special promotion for her new book Kareem Between!
Islamic schools have the opportunity to have a Muslim author visit their classes virtually- for free!
Seeing a hijabi Muslim woman succeed as an author can be so powerful and inspiring to young students, spurring them to pursue their own success in education. Shifa Saltagi Safadi was a young Muslim who went to Islamic schools and is now a mother of children who also go to Islamic schools (and an English teacher who worked at one), and she knows the passion Islamic school community members put into a new school to fill it with the resources to build kids with a strong Muslim American identity.
Shifa has a middle-grade book called Kareem Between coming out from the biggest Mainstream publisher, Penguin, on September 10th, and many more Muslim books coming next year.
Kareem Between is perfect for grades 3-7, and Shifa’s upcoming books are picture books and chapter books, for even younger readers.
To promote her book, as well as benefit the Muslim community, Shifa is offering a free recorded virtual school visit, talking about her book, the writing process, and tips for writing for students. She also does a read-aloud of a few pages of her book!
This is all located on a Study guide that is available on her website. This study guide offers an 8- 9 week guide on how to do a novel study, using English language ELA guidelines that work with curriculum, social studies, and poetry connections, and the link to the YouTube where the recorded visit is located.
At the end of the guide, educators will find a way to contact Shifa if they are interested in getting free bookmarks mailed to their school, or having their students email her questions/comments!
This is all available free of charge and recorded, so educators can plan this with flexibility. Shifa also offers custom virtual visits and free story times in Ramadan. Subscribe to her site shifasafadi.com and with the popup email sign-up sheet to keep up with any new updates and be the first to sign up when she does free promotions.
