A school founded with humble beginnings and lasting vision
Annoor Islamic School began its journey in 1996 in the basement of a local church, starting with just four-year-old pre-kindergarten students. From those humble beginnings, the school has grown steadily—both in size and in impact—while remaining rooted in its original mission: providing an Islamic learning environment where students can grow spiritually, academically, and socially.
Today, Annoor Islamic School serves a full elementary and middle school program and a growing high school, continuing to build pathways for students to remain within an Islamic educational environment through their secondary years.
Living Islamic values every day
At Annoor Islamic School, Islamic values are incorporated into students’ daily lives in intentional and visible ways. Students participate in daily QIA classes—Qur’an, Arabic, and Islamic Studies—ensuring that Islamic learning is not an add-on, but a core part of their education.
Students greet one another with As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum, pray Dhuhr together as a school community, and many classes begin with du‘a. Students are encouraged to follow the Sunnah in all aspects of daily life, whether during lunch, classroom interactions, or visits to the masjid.
This consistency helps students see Islam not only as a subject to study, but as a way of life.
Growing a strong and connected student community
One of the strengths of Annoor Islamic School is its close-knit, family-like environment. Students learn alongside peers who share their faith and values, creating a sense of belonging and mutual support.
As one 10th-grade student, Sana, shared, “I love my friends at the school, we all share the same religion and many experiences. They understand me and my life and they support me and help me.”
Students also express enthusiasm for both Islamic and academic subjects. Laila, a sixth grader, shared, “I love the QIA subjects, they are great classes. I learn a lot in a short span of time.” Younger students echoed similar sentiments, with fourth grader Yusuf saying, “I love learning the Quran, I also like getting to hang out with people who share my culture and religion, and learning the religion is very exciting.”
Even in academic subjects, collaboration and engagement are emphasized. Moaz, a fifth grader, noted, “I love math class, we get to work together on it, it makes the work easy. I also love science because we do science learning games, and PE because we do fun activities together.”
Partnering with families for holistic growth
Parents consistently highlight the positive impact Annoor Islamic School has had on their children’s spiritual growth, character, and confidence.
One parent shared, “Our kids have grown so much spiritually since joining the school. They apply Quran and sunnah often and help keep us on track too. They’ve developed great manners, empathy, and confidence in their Muslim identity. They’re safe and supported in a small, family-like environment that helps them grow academically.”
Another parent reflected, “Alhumdulillah. Sending my children to Annoor Islamic School has really kept them Islamically grounded while learning. It’s such a blessing, mashaAllah. All the teachers really care about the students and they incorporate Islam while teaching each subject, which has really helped my kids focus and enjoy learning.”
Academic quality and future growth
Annoor Islamic School is accredited by Cognia, reflecting its commitment to academic quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Looking ahead, one of the school’s key goals is to continue growing its high school program. The high school began in 2015 with just five students. Today, Annoor fully serves ninth and tenth grade on campus, while eleventh and twelfth graders attend Butler Community College for dual credit while still taking select courses on campus. The school aims to further develop the high school experience and encourage more students to continue beyond eighth grade within Annoor’s Islamic learning environment.
