Following the Uvalde, TX shootings, ISLA board and community members discussed the importance of having crisis response planning, templates and materials that are specific to Islamic schools. In response, ISLA applied for Islamic Relief USA’s Community Response Initiative grant. Alhumdulillah, the grant application was accepted.
Crisis Response Toolkit
ISLA is honored to receive a $10,000 grant from Islamic Relief USA to support the development of a Crisis Response Toolkit for Islamic schools. ISLA has already begun its work on this project by conducting a pulse survey with Islamic school leaders to understand their needs related to crisis management.
The article published in Islamic Horizons captures the survey responses and provides an interesting glimpse into the worries and hopes Islamic school administrators have related to crisis management.
Currently, ISLA is utilizing the survey responses to drive its toolkit development. Further research, including engagement with crisis response experts and Islamic school leaders, will continue throughout the remainder of the year. ISLA hopes to release a toolkit and provide related training before the next academic year, inshallah.
