museum of the palestinian people

Starting as a traveling exhibit in 2015, the Museum of the Palestinian People visited over 50 locations before finding a permanent home in the heart of Washington, D.C. On June 15th, 2019, we opened our doors, becoming the first Palestinian museum in the nation’s capital dedicated to telling the stories of the people of Palestine. Through contributions from around the world, we exhibit Palestinian artwork, historical artifacts, and cultural documentation.

Introduction

As educators, it is essential to provide students with comprehensive and meaningful insights into historical and contemporary issues. Integrating organizations that promote or support the Palestinian cause into your curriculum can significantly enhance students’ understanding and engagement. This guide will help you understand the importance of these connections and provide practical activities to integrate these resources into your teaching, all while emphasizing the Islamic values of justice, compassion, and solidarity.

Why?

  1. Broaden Understanding: Introducing students to organizations that support the Palestinian cause helps them gain a fuller understanding of the global conversation about Palestine. This broader perspective is crucial for developing a well-rounded worldview.
