Asalaamu ‘Alaykum!

We at the Islamic Schools League of America (ISLA) are pleased to announce our newest member to the team!Portrait of Dr. Isra Brifkani

Isra Brifkani received her Doctor of Education Degree in Assessment, Learning, and School Improvement from Middle Tennessee State University in 2017. She also holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Education from the same university. She is delighted to join the Islamic Schools League of America (ISLA) in the Research Associate role to support its mission in carrying out critical and foundational research on Islamic education and full-time schools.

Dr. Brifkani believes the gap between educational research and practice can be bridged through collaboration between researchers and practitioners to produce relevant, timely, and impactful research that empowers educators and transforms schools. With extensive experience as an educational researcher, school board member, and practitioner, she has led many transformative school improvement initiatives that embody wholeness in education inspired by the Islamic philosophy education.

She currently serves as a school board member and leads the Islamic Whole Child Education Project at Nashville International Academy. Dr. Brifkani believes the educative experience should be transformative and cultivate positive change in students- academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. She brings over 15 years of educational research and practice experience to this role and is honored to serve Islamic schools.

We know you all will welcome her with open arms. Thank you for the support and dedication to ISLA. We are eager to see what the future holds!

Wasalam,
The ISLA Board
