Corporate Member Spotlight: Consultants for Islamic School Excellence (CISE)

Empowering Islamic Schools Through Excellence

Across the United States, Islamic schools are striving to balance their noble mission with the realities of limited budgets and resources. They aspire to provide students with a world-class education rooted in faith, while cultivating positive environments where every child feels supported and inspired. But too often, access to affordable, high-quality training and tailored consultation remains out of reach.

This challenge is precisely what inspired the launch of Consultants for Islamic School Excellence (CISE)—a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting KG–12 Islamic academic institutions with comprehensive, affordable, and customized professional development, resources, and consultation. As an ISLA Corporate Member, CISE stands out as a partner deeply invested in helping Islamic schools achieve their highest potential.

Our Vision and Mission

CISE was founded with a clear vision: to lead Islamic schools to become the highest and most desirable academic institutions—excelling in scholarship, fostering positive school climates, and serving their larger communities with distinction.

Its mission is equally compelling: to design and deliver affordable, high-quality, customized professional development trainings, resources, and consultation to raise the degree of excellence in both scholarship and environment in Islamic schools.

At its heart, CISE exists to ensure that every Islamic school, regardless of size or budget, has access to the training and support it needs to thrive.

Why CISE Was Founded

The idea for CISE was born from a pressing reality: while Islamic schools are filled with dedicated educators and visionary leaders, many operate with limited budgets. Accessing high-caliber professional development, like those offered by national organizations such as ASCD, was often financially out of reach.

School leaders found themselves struggling to send even one teacher to such programs, much less entire teams. Recognizing this gap, a group of senior Muslim educators stepped in to create a homegrown solution. CISE began offering the same level of training and consultation—tailored to the unique challenges of Islamic schools—at prices schools could actually afford.

This not only made high-quality training accessible, but also ensured that the content was relevant, practical, and deeply rooted in the context of Islamic education. Along the way, CISE identified another critical need: curriculum resources uniquely designed for Islamic schools. Meeting that need has since become a central part of their mission.

Rooted in Islamic Values

CISE incorporates Islamic values into every aspect of its work. From program design to workplace culture, integrity, sincerity, and excellence are non-negotiable principles. Their trainings and consultation services are not just about building skills—they are about cultivating a culture of service, stewardship, and professionalism that reflects the very best of Islamic education.

A Unique Initiative: The Jerusalem Curriculum Project

One of CISE’s flagship initiatives is the Jerusalem Curriculum Project, a groundbreaking effort to fill a critical gap in Islamic education in the U.S.

This project introduces Muslim youth to the spiritual, historical, and cultural significance of Jerusalem and Masjid al-Aqsa. Rooted in authentic scholarship and designed to be engaging and age-appropriate, the curriculum helps students strengthen their Islamic identity while developing an informed awareness of global issues.

The first unit of the Jerusalem Curriculum Project has already been developed and is offered free of charge to schools and communities nationwide. CISE’s long-term goal is to complete the full curriculum and make it widely accessible to Islamic schools, empowering students with knowledge that is both timely and timeless.

Looking Ahead

CISE’s goals for the future focus on expanding both reach and impact:

  • Growing professional development programs so every Islamic school can access affordable, relevant training.
  • Strengthening curriculum support, including completing the Jerusalem Curriculum Project.
  • Building platforms for collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the Islamic school community.

These priorities reflect CISE’s belief that excellence in education is not just about academic outcomes—it’s about cultivating environments where students and teachers can thrive.
